Team
 
All graduate programs of business administration in universities throughout Thailand, and invited schools in Asia Pacific, are eligible to participate.

Team Size & Composition
 
Each graduate program can send a representative of one team. A team must consist of between 3-4 members (minimum of 3 & maximum of 4 members). At least three members of the team must be graduate students in the same business administration program. The last team member is open for the team to choose as they wish. This member may not be affiliated with the graduate program. The Bangkok Business Challenge® Organizing Committee encourages the team to identify individuals, external to the program, who may contribute additional expertise and experience to help the team succeed.

Criteria  

The judging criteria will be based on the commercial potential of business, innovative nature and technical feasibility of the idea, and the credibility of the projections and assumptions. Judges look favorably upon high potential, growth-oriented business catering to relatively large markets. Teams should refer to Business Plan Guide before writing the business plan.

The result of the Divisional and Final Rounds will be determined by the sum of judges' ranking. Should the sum of judges' ranking ends up equal, average raw scores will be used to determine the winners.

In call cases the judges' decisions are deemed as final.

Qualifying Round
 
Evaluation will be based solely (100%) on the written business plan (Appendix A).
 
Divisional & Final Round
 
Evaluation will be based on the following criteria (Appendix B&C):
- Written Business Plan (55%)
- Presentation (40%)
- Business Exhibition (5%)
 
Mini Round
 
The Mini Round will be evaluated by team members from other non-finalist teams.
 
Evaluation will be based on the following criteria (Appendix D):
- Presentation (40%)
- Viability (60%)

Format  
Qualifying Round
1. Each team must complete & submit the Application Form by Tuesday, December 14, 2004, 5:00 PM.
2. Five hard copies of its business plan due by Tuesday, December 14, 2004, 5:00 PM.
3. The 12 best business plans will be announced on Tuesday, January 18, 2005.
4.  Every team will receive written feedback from its panel of judges and are allowed to modify their business plans.
5. Twelve  hard  copies and  one soft copy  of its  revised  business  plan  due by Thursday, February 17, 2005,
5:00 PM.
6. LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
 
Divisional Round
1. The 12 qualified teams will be randomly selected to compete in one of the four divisions, after which the winning team from each division will proceed to the Final Round.
2.  Teams will be evaluated on their business plan & the presentation.
3.  The Divisional Round will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2005.
 
Final Round
1. Teams will be evaluated on their business plan & the oral presentation. The Final Round will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2005.
2. The Final Round will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2005.
 
Mini Round
1. Eight Teams who do not qualify for the Final Round are required to make a ten-minute presentation and hold a five-minute question-and-answer session on Sunday, March 6, 2005.
2. Not every team member is required to participate in this oral presentation.

Official Rules & Regulations  
General Rules & Regulations
1. The proposed venture must be for a seed or start-up business and must address the entire business concept including implementation. Proposals for buy-out, expansion, or development of an existing business, tax-shelter opportunities, real estate syndications, subsidiaries and other consulting projects or analyses are NOT eligible.
2. The amount sought from the venture capitalists and/or external investors must be at least 10 million Baht.
3. In all cases the judges decisions are deemed as final.
 
Written Business Plan
1.

Total business plan and appendices must not exceed 45 pages. (including cover page, executive summary, appendices, spreadsheets, illustrations, page breaks, etc.).

2.

The main portion of the written business plan must not exceed twenty-five (25) double spaced pages of text and graphics (excluding cover page, executive summary, contents page). Detailed spreadsheets and other supporting data/documents should be in the appendices.

3.

The written business plan must be double-spaced.

4.

The written business plan must be typed.

5.

The font size must be 12.

 
Presentation
1.

Formal presentation is required by every team in the Divisional and Final Rounds.

2.

Every member of the team must participate in the formal presentation of the plan orally.

3. Each team is required to make a twenty-minute presentation, followed by a twenty-minute question-and-answer session with the judges.
4. There will be approximately 10 minutes between each team's presentations for set-up.

5.

A team which has finished its presentation may observe both the presentation and question-and-answer session of the teams that come after it. Teams that have not given their presentations may observe only the presentation segments of teams before them and must exit the room at the beginning of the question-and-answer sessions.

6. TIME LIMITATION WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
 
Business Exhibition
1.  The business exhibition is required by every team in the Divisional and Final Rounds.
2. Teams will present their business ideas, products and proposed venture and answer questions to judges, guests, and interested individuals at the Business Exhibition.
3. At least one team member will be required to stay by the displays to answer any questions.
