The mai Bangkok Business Challenge® @ Sasin 2012 (Press Conference)

Professor Toemsakdi Krishnamra, Director of Sasin, announced that the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University in cooperation with the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) under The Stock Exchange of Thailand group will hold the mai Bangkok Business Challenge?@ Sasin 2012 from March 1-3, 2012. Master’s degree students of leading universities worldwide will be competing for H.M. The King’s Award and other prizes worth over 3,000,000 baht.

This year’s theme is “Seeds of Success for a Sustainable Future.” Competitors must combine academic knowledge with business ideas, presenting a plan that is not only strong, but also  socially responsible to suit this year’s theme as  social and environmental responsibility must be practiced by all businesses, be they  not-for-profit or commercial ventures. The competition is supported by major sponsors comprising The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Kiatnakin Bank Co., Ltd., Money Channel, Tesco Lotus and B.Grimm Group.

A total of 55 business plans from 45 world class universities located in 23 countries were submitted. Of these, 16 teams from 11 countries are eligible for the semi-final round including teams from Cornell University, USA, National University of Singapore, Singapore, Hitotsubashi University, Japan, Queensland University of Technology, Australia, Northern Institute of Technology Management, Germany and Sasin Graduate Institute for Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Most of the plans involve technology and products that are environmentally friendly and socially beneficial.
